How Texas Computer Education Association Doubled their Membership Base with Mobilize
The Problem
Participation and engagement among the TCEA member base was dropping fast. They needed a modern way to reignite a distracted member base and a partner to help them get clarity on what their members value most.
The Solution
Moving off of Listserv and an old forum, TCEA modernized their member experience and worked with the Mobilize strategy experts to develop a plan that skyrocketed their engagement and doubled their member base.
Texas Computer Education Association is dedicated to advancing teaching and learning through the use of technology in Pre-K – 16 schools. Their association is led by a grassroots board of directors who are all professional educators and the organization supports educators who are enhancing curriculum with digital tools.
TCEA previously relied on both a listserv and traditional forum in order to reach their members, but there was low engagement. The tools were missing opportunities for topic-focused member connections, relationship building, and collaboration. TCEA needed a way to add value to their member experience, increase engagement, and increase opportunities for members to connect around interests and industry topics.
TCEA drastically improved its member experience with an all-in-one engagement platform. The member directory and custom profiles helped the organization understand its members and connect them to each other for personal and professional development.
New members are invited to list their interests in a customized registration form, which are then added to the member database for other members to search, discover and easily network. That drives context driven conversation and further personalization of the community.
TCEA has since expanded the community into deeper sub-groups based on topics, interests and opportunities— and use community analytics to inform community strategy and report success back to their board. It’s been so successful that board members have even started showing off the product at conferences and speeches.
Community engagement rates have skyrocketed with Mobilize. TCEA has been successful at providing their community with relevant, engaging content that delivers value, and keeps members coming back. Over 76% of community members have viewed community posts in the last year, with 27% of members digging in to learn more.
The online space they’ve created fosters a sense of belonging, and 25% of community members joined a new subgroup in the last year—indicating members are organizing for purpose and outcomes.
Executive Director Lori Gracey credits Mobilize as a big contributor to their spike in membership growth over the last year – they have grown to 27,600 members from the 15,000 members when they launched Mobilize and Mobilize has become their biggest member benefit.
